Green Germany - Sustainable Practices and Eco-Tourism

  In 1998, Germany's Green Party made an historic transition from student protests into national politics when they joined Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's junior coalition government and took office for the first time under his guidance. Their first taste of power revealed both their radical message as well as some key fault lines within their party. Amanda Sloat of the Brookings Institution reports in her paper that the Green Party has matured from its radical beginnings into a mainstream force with increasing electoral success.
